While Montana’s population is less than one million, the Drug Enforcement Administration considers the state an area of high drug trafficking. There were over 7,744 people admitted to a drug and alcohol rehab program in the state of Montana in 2010. The most commonly cited drugs in drug related deaths in Montana are hydrocodone, oxycodone, methadone and Fentanyl.
Even more concerning are the number of young people suffering from a drug or alcohol addiction in Montana. According to a national survey conducted on drug abuse, Montana ranks third in the nation for teen abuse of prescription drugs. The incidence of teen drug abuse has reached a monstrous 42% from just 7% in the last three years. Considering the gravity of the situation, the state is developing a comprehensive approach to deal with this crisis to prevent matters from spiraling out of control.

Substance dependence is a devastating experience for the person undergoing such dependency and for their families.
